Yolanda Chiaramello’s Weblog

A busy month!

It’s been a while again since I’ve had chance to update my blog. Which is good in one way, as things have been really busy, frustrating in another as I have so much I want to share, and annoying if I will keep shooting film, I have a back log of scanning! I am still in the process of editing my third Grafton portrait, Charlotte, which I took a gamble with and shot only on black and white film. I have actually developed them, and I am really pleased when a hunch works out..it never normally does in my case.

Last weekend I was up in Northamptonshire for my third Indian wedding, I love photographing them, as they are so vibrant, crazy and generally a huge affair. This one was a little unusal, as there were a whopping 4 photographers covering the big event. Something which I’ve not experienced before. But after a slighlty awkward start, it was all fine and dandy and everyone kind of forgot about the other, and completed their roles in harmony.

Here are a few of my favorites so far.. I still have a mamouth edit to do, I am feeling slightly daunted by the prospect!

Please stay tuned much more to follow. I hope you enjoy them!

Grafton Cont… Lauren

Yesterday,  at around 730ish, after Jake had been bathed, put to bed,  a flying chat with Jim(hubby) was had, I dashed up to see Lauren for her portraits at her family home. I was cheerfully greeted by Lauren, her mum, younger sibling and dad. They live just a short distance from me, in a beautiful warm, open plan house. Lauren showed me around, and I decided on a few set-ups, aware I should not impose too much on their family evening.

We were lucky with the light, so decided a simple set-up in their garden, with one small flash on a half power, pretty much central to Lauren, should do the trick. I was keen to keep the “free” part key to the project, so asked Lauren to do a few leaps, which she did BRILLIANTLY! Lauren, is always smiling and so full of life, so I wanted to try to capture this, without seeming contrived. I hope she feels I have achieved this at least a little anyhow. She is a lovely girl. We had a lot of fun! Thank you to her family for their patience and support. I hope you like them.

The second is more serious, but I like it for what it is.
